Welcome to Peebles

Surrounded by fantastic scenery, fresh water and beautiful countryside is the Royal Burgh of Peebles. This tourist haven was originally a market town which played a direct role in the production of woollen textiles. Until the 1960's the many mills in Peebles made woollen garments which were shipped both locally as well as worldwide. Today Peebles has only one working mill which still makes garments of high standard and quality.

Originally under the Rule of King David I, Peebles became a Royal Burgh in 1152. To keep up with the ever changing times Peebles has gone from strength to strength transforming this once small market town into a bustling summer haven. Tourists and travellers alike come to enjoy its many outdoor and indoor activities as well its easy driving distance from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Carlisle.
